MCC Volleyball came up just short against Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday as they fell in five sets, 3-2.

Set 1:

The match was intense from the jump as the opening point was a 17 hit rally between the two teams that was eventually won by EAC. MCC would fall behind early 11-7 but would make a push to tie the game at 18 apiece. From that point the Lady T-Birds took the momentum as they took the lead and would win the first set 25-21.

Set 2:

In the second set EAC came out and took a 7-3 lead and would stave off multiple MCC pushes en route to a 17-25 victory to tie the match, 1-1.

Set 3:

MCC seemed to come out flat in the third set, falling behind 6-3 before a timeout. The Lady T-Birds were able to cut into the Gila Monsters lead as they would bring the score to 10-15. Down the stretch Mesa was able to get as close as two points but would eventually fall, 22-25 as EAC took a 2-1 lead in the match.

Set 4:

After coming so close to taking set three it would've been easy for MCC to roll over and let EAC run away with the win, but that's not in the Lady T-Birds DNA. MCC would mount a 7-3 lead and never look back, leading by as many as six en route to a 25-19 victory as Mesa tied the match 2-2.

Set 5:

In the final set MCC built a 4-2 lead but EAC would respond back, as they would take a 6-4 lead and never look back, beating MCC, 8-15 in the final set while winning the match 3-2.

With the loss MCC's overall record falls to 9-10 (5-4 ACCAC). The Lady T-Birds will be back in action on Friday as they travel to take on No. 15 Chandler-Gilbert.
