NATIONAL RANKING
That Mesa has had a dominant athletic program for many years is no surprise. However, the National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) has created an award, now called the Daktronics Cup. To honor the top programs in the nation each year which graphically demonstrates how strong the MCC program has been.
Each year NATYCAA uses a system that computes each school’s finish in NJCAA national championship competition for each of the over 400 scholarship programs to create a national ranking. Mesa has finished in the top 5 five times and has never finished lower than 21st in a year in which it fielded all sports.
