Mesa now sixth, Vakasioula still second, at NJCAA women's golf

  Sanford, Fla. – The Mesa women's golf team slipped to sixth place on day three of the NJCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship, but Alyzzah Vakasioula improved in her quest to win the individual title.

The T-Birds shot a 332 total and now stand at 980 for 54 holes. They are just three strokes behind fifth place Dodge City, but also only two ahead of Eastern Florida State and Redlands.

  Vakasioula had her best round of the tournament, a one-under 71, and now trails leader Nagano Minori, of Seminole State, by just three shots. She is seven strokes ahead of the third place golfer with a 220 total.

  Vivianna Holguin is now tied for 32nd place at 250. Abby Schmidt is tied for 41st place with teammate Jolie Guyette at 255.

The tournament, being played at the Mayfair C.C., concludes Thursday.
