Women's golf opens spring season with 80-shot win
Led by Alyzzah Vakasioula's ninth straight regular season tournament victory, the Mesa women's golf team began the spring 2022 season with a dominating performance at their own Lady Thunderbird Invitational Wednesday and Thursday.
MCC fashioned a 36-hole team total 316-307—623 to win by 80 shots over second place South Mountain which carded a 358-345—703.
Vakasioula led the way with a Mesa personal best 36-hole score of 71-67—138. The second round 67 was also her best ever at MCC. She won the evet by 14 strokes.
In addition, Jolie Guyette placed fourth with a 79-80—159. Abby Schmidt was three shots further back at 82-80—162 as the T-Birds took three of the top five individual places.
The MCC women will next play Saturday and Sunday Feb. 19-20 at the South Mountain Invitational.
