Men's and women's tennis each fall twice at Arizona Christian Inv.

  Glendale, AZ - The Mesa tennis teams ran into some formidable competition Friday at the Arizona Christian Invitational and dropped all four matches, two by the men and two by the women.

  "We played extremely tough today and started out with a lot of energy," said head coach Feroz Rast. "We just couldn't get the big points to go our way. ACU and EAC are both very strong programs and we had to battle for every point.  Unfortunately, we were not able to pull out the team wins. I know we will use this experience to get better and will perform much better in the future.

"Highlights of today were the strong doubles win by Lucas Baruffi and Ethan Goodman. They pulled out a big 9-8 win against ACU at number 3 doubles.  We also had a big win at number one singles by Beto Carlon 6-2, 6-3 against ACU.

   The men lost twice to ACU, 7-2 and 9-0,while the women fell to ACU 4-3 and Eastern Arizona, 7-2.

  The T-Birds will play again Saturday at the ACU Invitational.
