No, 7 Mesa men's tennis takes 9-0 win at Pima
Tucson, AZ – The seventh-ranked Mesa men's tennis team won its second ACCAC shutout Thursday with a 9-0 win over Pima.
"Pima's men are much improved from last year," noted head coach Adam Cohen. "We were able to escape with wins in a couple of close matches. I am hoping we are able to have a smoother victory in a couple weeks when we play them again. They put a huge spotlight on some things we need to improve on. We have the talent to be as good as we want, but we got out worked today in doubles. We were lucky to leave 9-0."
Among the top wins for MCC were 14th-ranked David Felix in a 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and 31st ranked Linus Holthey, a 6-1, 6-0, victor at No. 2 over Francisco Ton. In addition, Matt Fisher won at No. 4, 6-1, 6-0, over Francisco Sotelo. Kim Donghyun defeated Jesus Lopez at No. 5, 6-0, 6-1 and Eduardo Cuoto won be an identical score at No. 6 over Rai Singh Kaile.
Mesa will take on New Mexico Military Saturday at home 9:00 a.m.
