MCC Women's Volleyball fell to Glendale CC on Wednesday night in a thrilling five set match, 3-2.

The Lady T-Birds were able to battle back and forth with the Gauchos in the opening set to eventually take a 25-22 victory and a 1-0 set lead in the match.

GCC would quickly answer back in the second set defeating MCC 25-21. The third set seemed like it could've swung the tide for MCC as they had three different opportunities at a set point but were unable to seal the deal as the Gauchos would claw their way back to a 27-25 victory.

Down two sets to one and with their postseason hopes on the line MCC pulled out all the stops in the fourth set, scoring five consecutive points near the end of the set to take a 25-18 win and force a deciding fifth set.

Just like the previous sets, the final frame was a battle back and forth between the two teams. Eventually GCC would take momentum in their favor and lead 12-9. Not going down without a fight MCC would get to within one (12-11) but did not have enough gas in the tank to overpower the Gauchos down the stretch as they would fall 15-12 in the set, and 3-2 in the match.

With the loss MCC's overall record falls to 10-15 (6-9 ACCAC). The loss does put MCC's postseason dreams to bed as both South Mountain and Pima will duke it out over the fourth and final seed.

MCC will wrap up their regular season on the road against Phoenix College on Friday.

After the match Mesa Volleyball honored their five sophomore players who participated in their last home match.
