MCC Volleyball looks to keep postseason hopes alive on Sophomore Night

Wednesday October 25, 2023 - 10:15 a.m. | Dylan DeVlieger

MCC Women's Volleyball takes their home court for the final time in the regular season against Glendale CC on Wednesday night.

The match will be vitally important for both teams; Mesa trying to get back into the playoffs and Glendale trying to keep their postseason position.

The Lady T-Birds come in with a 10-14 overall record and a 6-8 conference mark. Winners of just one of their last five matches, MCC has hit a skid towards the end of the year but thanks to their hot start to the season still have a chance to play postseason volleyball.

Glendale enters play on Wednesday with a 9-8 overall record and a 7-7 mark against ACCAC opponents. The Gauchos have hit a bit of a skid at the end of the year as they have also won just one of their last five matches.

For Mesa their last two games of the season are simple, win and you're in. With a win against Glendale, MCC would have the same number of conference wins and they would own the tiebreaker against GCC giving them the upperhand. However, MCC must win against Phoenix College on Friday to cement themselves in the postseason.

In lieu of charging to enter all home volleyball matches, the Athletic Department will be accepting non-perishable food donations at the entrance to support the MCC Mesa Market so come out enjoy some great volleyball and help a good cause!

The game will begin at 7:00 P.M. If you're unable to make the match tune into T-Birds Sports Live to watch all the action as it unfolds.
