Vakasiuola Leads Lady T-Birds to 22 stroke lead in first round of Thunderbird Invitational

Sophomore Alyzzah Vakasiuola shot a 1-over 73 to help lead her team to a 22 stroke lead over Pima CC after round 1 of the Lady Thunderbird Classic held at Dobson Ranch GC. 

Freshman Addison King (78) is in second place following her teammate. Raquel Pargas (87) is in 9th and Mary Tukuafu (93) sits in 14th to round out the  first round scores for the T-Birds.

"We need to clean up some little things but it's a good team start to the season," said head coach John Guerrero, "after last week's rain, the course played soft and longer than usual. We will make adjustments and play better tomorrow."

Round 2 resumes at 11:00 a.m. on  Wednesday.
