Men's and Women's Basketball Host CAC Tonight

Mesa, Ariz. - The Thunderbirds men's and women's basketball teams will face Central Arizona at home tonight.

The men (4-1 overall, 0-1 ACCAC) will look to bounce back from their first loss on the season last week to South Mountain. The T-Birds will have a good opportunity to notch their first conference win this season against the Vaqueros (1-5, 0-1).

MCC has five players who have so far averaged double-figure scoring his season, led by sophomore guard Timmy Johnson with 16.2 PPG. Freshman forward Nicholas Riley leads the team in rebounding and is fourth in the ACCAC with 10 RPB.

The women (4-1, 1-0) won last week's matchup against South Mountain and are ranked No. 7 nationally coming into tonight's contest against the Vaqueras (3-4, 0-1).

The lady T-Birds are led by sophomore guard Nia Boston with 14.2 PPG along with three other players averaging double-digit scoring.

Sophomore forward Jasmine Belt is fourth in the ACCAC in field goal percentage at 59.3% while freshman guard Kada Taliman leads the conference in three-point percentage at  56.5% on 23 attempts.

The men's game is scheduled to tip off at 5:30 pm, followed by the women's game at 7:30 pm.
