Women's Cross Country takes second at Region I Championships

MCC Women's Cross Country took home second place at the Region I Championships on Saturday.

The Lady T-Birds lost out on the title to Paradise Valley, the No.1 ranked team in the country, by just a single point.

Carmella Baldwin finished first overall with a time of 19:00.7 while her teammate Regina Raimo finished fourth in 19:56.9.

MCC came into the race only running five athletes and had all of them finish within the top 10. Even with the final results having Mesa coming up just short to PVCC, head coach Daniel Pescador is still proud of his team for their performances against the odds.

"To be short handed, all of the women understood what they needed to do, and they got it done! While it would have been nice to win, missing the region championship by 1 point against the #1 team in the country isn't too bad," said Pescador.

The Lady T-Birds will have two weeks to prepare for Nationals which will be held in Huntsville, AL.
