Collins, Mesa women, place second at Mesa Classic Cross Country
Mesa, AZ – Freshman Ellis Collins had another extremely impressive showing, taking second place individually and leading the Mesa women's cross country team to a second place finish at the Mesa Classic Saturday.
The 9th-ranked T-Birds lost only to NCAA Division II Western New Mexico in yet another outstanding showing. MCC scored 44 points to 31 for WNM.
Collins completed the 5k course at Mesa in 18:58.5, losing only to Western New Mexico's Brenda Prieto by less than six seconds.
Gabby Wiswell took ninth place overall with a 10:08.0 clocking, just ahead of two teammates. Tanaeya Johnson was tenth in 10:20.5 and Maggie Orr 11th, timed in 20:29.7.
Mesa will compete next Saturday at the UC-San Diego Triton Classic.
