MCC volleyball hits the road on Friday as they travel to No. 15 Chandler-Gilbert for a pivotal ACCAC matchup.
MCC holds an overall record of 9-10 (5-4 ACCAC). The Lady T-Birds are coming off a gut wrenching 3-2 loss at the hands of DI foe, Eastern Arizona College on Wednesday night. A match that MCC had it their claws but just weren't able to close the deal.
CGCC holds an 8-8 overall record (5-5 ACCAC). They are winners of 4 of their last five including victories over MCC, EAC, and Pima CC. The Coyotes had No. 2 Scottsdale CC on the ropes as they held a 2-0 set lead over the Artichokes but would eventually lose 3-2.
MCC and CGCC have met twice this season, once in conference play and once in a non-conference contest. Mesa won the conference match 3-2 back in early September while CGCC took down the Lady T-Birds, 3-1 in the non-conference contest last Saturday.
This match will have playoff seeding implications as MCC currently sits third when it comes to DII teams. With five conference wins each a loss for either team could led to their postseason doom as Glendale CC lurks close behind the Thunderbirds and Coyotes with four conference wins.
