T-Birds take flight at PVCC Indoor

MCC Track & Field competed in the PVCC Indoor meet on Saturday.

Women's Track & Field:

Taylor Jacobs had a strong showing in the 1000m event as she qualified for Indoor Nationals with a 3:06.62 finish.

Carmella Baldwin qualified for nationals in the 5000m event as she set a new PR at 18:54.84. 

The Lady T-Bird 4x400 relay team consisting of Deshay Turner, Diane Ondobo, Reanna Campbell, and Taylor Jacobs finished with a time of 3:53.90 which earned them a spot at nationals for the event.

Mesa's distance medley relay team of Kendra Guest, Diane Ondobo, Taylor Jacobs, and Carmella Baldwin were also successful in punching a ticket to nationals as they clocked a time of 12:58.97.

Maleah Tucker qualified and set a new PR in the weighted throw event as she was able to hit 15.11m.

Deshay Turner had herself a very successful day, not only qualifying in the 4x400 event, Turner also punched her ticket to nationals in the 400m event as she posted a new PR (56.75), and in the 60m event (7.64).  

 

Men's Track & Field:

Ousman Jagne qualified for nationals in the 60m posting a time of 6.74. Jagne also set a new PR in the 400m event as he finished with a time of 48.71.

Daruis Brown set a new PR in the 60m (6.84) and qualified for nationals in the 200m with a time of 21.34 which was also PR. 

Ernest and Samuel Green both qualified for nationals in the 800m as Ernest posted a time of 1:53.99 and Samuel finished with a time of 1:54.16.

MCC's distance medley relay team also punched their ticket to nationals as the team of Samuel Green, Ernest Green, Austin Rueff, and Ousman Jagne finished with a time of 10:20.32.

The Thunderbirds have a busy weekend ahead of them as they will host the Mesa Multis Thursday - Friday & will participate in the CAC Indoor on Saturday.
