Hobbs, NM - The Thunderbirds women's track & field team earned All-American honors in two events on day one of the 2023 NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Championships on Thursday.

The 4x800m relay (Kate Brockman, Ryan Heiliger, Maliyah Ross, and Taylor Jacobs) finished as the national runner-up to earn AA honors.

In the hammer throw, Victoria Malaki was eighth overall to also earn AA honors. Madison Hernandez just missed advancing to the final after a 10th-place finish in the trial.

M. Ross currently sits in 10th place in the heptathlon after the first day of competition. The event will wrap up on Friday.

Zamirah Parker finished in 13th place in the long jump trial.

After the women's 4x800m relay was completed, thunderstorms rolled in and caused the remaining women's running events on Thursday to be rescheduled.

The 10,000m run will be held Friday morning at 7:00 AM MST.

The 4x100m relay, 400m hurdles, and 400m dash will now be timed finals on Saturday.
