Mesa Soccer was swept by Glendale on Saturday in two highly contested ACCAC matchups.

Men's Soccer:

The Thunderbirds were looking to avenge an early season loss to No. 20 Glendale but were unable to do so as they fell, 2-1. With the loss Mesa's record fell to 6-4-1 (6-4-1).

It was a tied contest going into the half and then some as neither team could gain the upperhand until the 61st minute. Mesa's Joseph Rodriguez would break the tie as he would find the back of the net off a Joelouis Guzman assist.

Mesa was able to control the pace until the 82nd minute when the Gauchos would bring the score back to even as they would put one past Jordan Hagen. Soon after Glendale would capitalize and net another in the 87th minute to take a 2-1 advantage.

MCC was unable to find a way to tie the contest with the time remaining and would fall to Glendale for the second time this season. Due to cards Mesa lost Jace Forsberg and Cody Helmhout while they were leading, both Forsberg and Helmhout make a tremendous impact on the pitch for Mesa.

Women's Soccer:

In what head coach Drew Guarneri viewed as a must win game, the T-Birds came up short to the Gauchos, falling 3-0. The loss dropped Mesa's record to 5-6 (5-5 ACCAC).

Similar to the men's game the Lady T-Birds and Gauchos went into the halftime break scoreless, but the Gauchos would score three goals within ten minutes starting in the 65th minute to take the momentum and eventually the contest.

Mesa will have until Tuesday to reload when they travel to Tucson to take on Pima whose men rank No. 4 and the women No. 11.
