MCC Soccer welcomes Glendale into John D. Riggs Stadium on Saturday night for an ACCAC showdown.
Men's Soccer:
The T-Birds come in ranked No. 14 in the country and are riding high after a 2-0 (2-0 ACCAC) start to their season. Mesa opened up their offense in their 6-1 victory over Gateway.
Joseph Rodriguez leads the team and conference in assists with three. Caden Dosmann and Zakari Smith lead Mesa in goals as they each have two (Smith scored two against Gateway; Dosmann scored two against CGCC).
Glendale comes into the game also 2-0 (2-0 ACCAC) after they squeaked by South Mountain on Tuesday, 2-1.
Last year Mesa and Glendale tied, 2-2 in their lone contest of the season which was pivotal for both teams in determining playoff seeding. In the playoffs last season Mesa was knocked out by the eventual Region I Champion, Phoenix College while Glendale upset No. 2 PIma to advance to the title match.
Women's Soccer:
The Lady T-Birds come into action on Saturday with a 2-0 (2-0 ACCAC) mark after they dominated Gateway on Tuesday, 8-2. Both Hailey Hough and Brylee Allen notched hat tricks in the contest to help lift Mesa to victory.
Hough leads all DII players in goals scored (4) while Allen is tied for second (3).
Glendale comes into play with a 1-0 (1-0 ACCAC) record after their 7-1 victory over the Geckos last Saturday.
When these teams met last season Mesa took the 1-0 loss at the hands of the Gauchos which effectively ended their playoff chances.
