Mesa Soccer hosts Gateway in their home opener on Tuesday night under the lights at John D. Riggs Stadium.
Men's Soccer:
The No. 14 ranked T-Birds took care of business in their season opener on Saturday as they took down Chandler-Gilbert on the road, 2-1. Freshman Caden Dosmann showed why he was such a sought after recruit as he had both of Mesa's goals in the contest.
The Geckos were shut out in their season opener by Glendale on Saturday, 10-0.
Last year when these teams battled Mesa took the victory, 6-0.
Women's Soccer:
The Lady T-Birds also came away victorious on Saturday as they won a battle on the pitch against the Coyotes, 1-0. Neither MCC or CGCC were able to get an advantage on the other until late in the contest when sophomore Hailey Hough was able to find the back of the net off an Ella Adams assist.
Hard nosed defense and a timely save from keeper Kennedy Birk sealed the deal and the victory for Mesa to start their season off on the right foot.
The Geckos were unable to take down the Gauchos in their season opener on Saturday, falling 7-1.
When these teams met last season Mesa took home the 3-2 victory.
