Phoenix, AZ – Mesa scored the first three goals of the game, but had to wait until the second half to do it, in a 3-1 win over South Mountain in ACCAC play Tuesday afternoon.
The win, MCC's second in its last three games, lifted Mesa to 3-6 in ACCAC play and 3-10 overall. The Cougars are 1-8 and 2-10.
The T-Birds had to wait until the 47:09 mark before Xitlaly Padilla netted her second of the season with an assist from Rylee Rottweiler.
Eleven minutes later the two reversed things as Rottweiler knocked in her fifth of the year, with help from Padilla.
At 64:03 Ilya Valdez scored her second of the year with Olivia Bodily getting the assist.
SMCC got its goal at the 71:53 mark.
MCC returns home Saturday to face GateWay at 7:00, the first of the two final games of the year.
