Mesa, AZ- The Arizona Western Matadors women's soccer team overwhelmed the Mesa Thunderbirds Thursday night with shot after shot on goal with the T-Birds eventually allowing three goals to just their one.
Mesa didn't have much luck in goal as starting goal keeper, Brandi Alderson, was injured on a Matador attack around the 15 minute mark. Shelby Nelson replaced her and did a fine job but just couldn't handle the continous shots on goals from Western.
Maddison Ross scored the first goal of her career for the T-Birds in the 29th minute with the assist going to Elisha Dietrich. It happened to be the first goal of the match between both teams.
With the loss tonight, Mesa moves to 2-3 on the season. They will play at Glendale on Saturday for a 12:30 p.m. start time.
