Box score

MESA, AZ - Mackenzie Maberry (So., Cottonwood, AZ/Mingus Union H.S.) scored the game-winning goal in the 80th-minute as the Mesa women's soccer team edged GateWay, 2-1, at John D. Riggs Satdium Saturday evening.

Mabery's fourth goal of the season broke a 1-1 tie and lifted MCC's record to 6-4-4 for the year. Jordan Drake (So., Grand Junction, Colo/Grand Junction H.S.) assisted.

Drake had given MCC a 1-0 lead with her fourth score of the season in the eighth minute and it stood that way through halftime until Nattaly campos knotted the score for the Geckos in the 69th minute.

The T-Birds currently sit in seventh place in the ACCAC, just one-half game behind Arizona Western, in the race for one of the six Region I playoff berths.

Mesa will host Scottsdale Tuesday night at John D. Riggs Stadium at 8:00 p.m.
