Mackenzie Vongphosy signs with Eckerd College

Women's Golf athlete Mackenzie Vongphosy has signed with Eckerd College to continue her athletic and academic career.

Vongphosy who currently is ranked as the No. 3 player in the country was drawn to Eckard for multiple reasons all beginning with their head coach David Woodrum.

"It was not only the team but the coach, the way he runs his program and his communication that's what really sold me," said Vongphosy.

With her late start in the sport Vongphosy credits the Mesa program and head coach John Guerrero for the growth she has experienced that has helped her get to the next level.

"I started really late in high school and I came into MCC not knowing much about golf and coach Guerrero took a chance on me. Having such a solid team to learn from and an amazing coach has helped me a lot," said Vongphosy. 

Vongphosy and the Lady T-Birds look to capture the Region I title at the Ocotillo GC April 21-24 before setting their sights on the NJCAA DII National Championship.
