Lady T-Birds move into fifth place after day two at NJCAA Nationals

Led by freshman Mackenzie Vongphosy's 75, the Mesa CC women's golf team moved up 2 spots to 5th place in the 2nd round of the NJCAA Championship. 

With usual Midwest winds, gusts of 35 mph saw second rounds scores soar in comparison to day one at the Buffalo Dunes GC in Garden City, KS

The Lady T-birds shot a 313(+25) which was the third lowest team total for round 2. MCC (315-313-628) trails Seminole State FL (293-313-606) by 22 strokes. Daytona State (612) Western Tx (618), McLennan CC(623), are 2nd-4th respectively.

Sophomore Presley Pickron fired a second round 79 which leaves her in 14th place 75-79 (154). Teammate Abby Schmidt 77-79 (156) sits tied for 18th. Vongphosy 83-75 (158) T-30, Jolie Guyette 80-80 (160) T-32 and Vivianna Holguin 83-88 (171) T-66 round out scores for the Lady T-Birds.

Third round play continues tomorrow where the Thunderbirds start at 9:45 am Central.
