Women's golf wins Mesa Invitational; Men place third
Mesa, AZ – The Mesa women won their 22nd consecutive ACCAC golf tournament, while the men placed third, at the Mesa Invitational Tuesday and Wednesday at the Dobson Ranch G.C. The tournament was played in extremely windy conditions with gusts up to 35 mph.
The women took four of the top places, led by Jolie Guyette who was third with a 78-73—151 total. That led the T-Birds to a 317-307—624 total and a 17 stoke victory.
In addition, Presley Pickron tied for fourth place at 78-75—153, while Abby Schmidt was sixth carding a 79-79—158 and Paige Layaoen took eight place with an 82-81—163.
The MCC men were paced by Tomas Ribeiro who fired a one-under-par 73-70—143 That helped Mesa to a 297-288—585 total.
For the T-Birds, Tyler Gerace tied for eighth place posting a 76-70—146 and Stratton Geneke tied for 11th at 74-74—148.
Next up for the MCC women is the Estrella Mountain Invitational next Thursday and Friday, while the men travel to the Pima Invitational Feb. 27-28.
