Mesa 8th, Vakasioula tied for tenth at NJCAA women's golf nationals

Ormond Beach, Fla. - The Mesa team was in eighth place and Alyzzah Vakasioula tied for tenth after the first day of play at the NJCAA Division I Women's Golf National Championship Monday.

  The T-Birds shot a 347, while Vakasioula carded a 78. Only one player in the entire 114-player field even equaled par over the Plantation Bay G&CC layout.

  MCC's Abby Schmidt is tied for 21st place with an 84. Presley Pickron is tied for 51st with at 90, Sarah Cordova is tied for 73rd at 95 and Nalin Lee tied for 87th at 102.

  The tournament continues through Thursday.
