Another first round lead for women's golf; 22 shots up at Estrella Mountain Inv.

  LAVEEN, AZ - Once again the Mesa women's golf team has jumped to a first round lead, this time a 22-shot margin at the Estrella Mountain Invitational being played at the Aguilla G.C.

  Mesa recorded a 308 to South Mountain's 330. Grinnell (Iowa), an NCAA Division III school, was third at 347.

  Mesa had all five of the top scorers with Jacquelyn Porman (So., Gilbert, AZ/Chandler H.S.) leading the way with a75.

  Jill Harvison (Fr., Mesa, AZ/Mountain View H.S.) was second recording a 77.

  Brianna Medrano (Fr., Queen Creek, AZ/Gilbert H.S.) and Charatta Thongbai (So., Gilbert, AZ/Dobson H.S.) were tied for third with 78s and Sierra Myerscough (So., Champaign, Ill/St. Thomas More H.S.) was fifth with a 79.

  The tournament concludes Wednesday.
