The Lady T-Bird Basketball team will get back to action on their home court on Saturday against Arizona Western College after competing at the Pima College Aztec Holiday Classic over the holiday break.

In their three games in three days Mesa went 1-2 with losses to North Idaho College and Cochise both games had to go to an overtime period to decide.

Against North Idaho College the T-Birds ran out of gas in the OT period as they were outscored 11-2 in the extra period as they fell 62-53. Britany Kogbara posted another dominant stat line (23 points & 16 rebounds) earning her fourth double-double in her last five games.

In a rematch from earlier in the season the T-Birds and the Apaches of Cochise College traded blows for a majority of the game which led to Mesa's second overtime game in three days. Again Mesa gave up 11 points in the five minute frame allowing Cochise to walk away with the 62-57 victory.

Ashiian Hunter led the way for Mesa totaling 19 points after hitting five three-pointers while grabbing four rebounds.

MCC picked up a dominant win over Cuyamaca College in which they had 29 steals and forced 36 turnovers. It was a complete team performance as all T-Birds who entered the game scored as they totaled 105 points as a team.

Defensively Mesa was as dominant as they've been all year, surrendering just 22 points and holding their opponent to under 10 points in three quarters and just three second half points.

Maddy Brown led all scorers with 22 points as she went 9-16 from the field and 3-7 from deep. Brown had seven steals while Hunter had six. Aaliyah Garcia dished out 10 assists in the win.

Mesa will be back at Theo Heap Gymnasium on Saturday as they host DI AWC at 2 p.m. before they get back to conference action on Wednesday.
