MCC basketball travels to Scottsdale for conference battles on Saturday

MCC basketball hits the road again on Saturday for their second of three straight away from home as they travel to take on Scottsdale in conference battles.

Women's Basketball:

No. 5 MCC comes in red hot, winners of their last 10 games the Lady T-Birds hold an 18-4 record (13-3 ACCAC). Mesa's last loss came over a month ago when they fell to DI opponent Arizona Western 51-47.

Scottsdale comes into play on Saturday with a 11-8 record (7-7 ACCAC). The Artichokes are winners of three of their last five with both losses coming in overtime, once against No. 18 DI Eastern Arizona College, and in their most recent game against No. 14 Pima.

This will be the third and final meeting between the two teams this season, MCC has taken both games prior as they won 52-51 on Jan. 17 and captured a 57-48 win on Jan. 20.

Men's Basketball:

MCC Men's Basketball is coming off a 73-62 victory over Phoenix College as they hold a 6-15 record (4-11 ACCAC) going into play on Saturday. Mesa has won two of their last five games. The T-Bird offense has looked better as of late as they're averaging 70.8 points in their last five games and are shooting 43.3% from the floor in those contests.

Lual Lual hit his 500th career point in their last game and on Saturday Orlando Gonzales has the opportunity to join him as he sits just three points away from milestone. 

Scottsdale comes in winners of one of their last five holding a 10-10 record (6-9 ACCAC). The Artichokes have seemed to struggle a bit from downtown over their last five games as they hit at just a 27.7% rate.

This will be the third and final meeting between the two teams as SCC picked up an 81-68 victory on Jan. 17 and a 82-69 win on Jan. 20.

Both games will be played at Scottsdale Community College with the women tipping off at 2:00 & 4:00.
