Mesa Basketball went into Phoenix College on Wednesday on a mission, to pick up two conference wins and they did just that.

Women's Basketball:

The No. 5 Lady T-Birds extended their winning streak to 10 games on Wednesday as they took down the Bears 67-32. With the win Mesa improves their record to 18-4 (13-3 ACCAC).

MCC dominated the first half on both ends of the court as they held the Bears to just three points in the opening period while scoring 21 points themselves.

In the second quarter Mesa held PC to just seven points while putting up 17, taking a 38-10 lead into the locker room.

In the second half MCC would outscore Phoenix College 29-22, PC had their best quarter offensively in the final frame as they put up 14 points.

Mesa was led in scoring by Brooklyn Scurry who had 10 points on 5-6 shooting from the floor. Alayna Boss put up a career high seven points in the win.

The Lady T-Birds will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to take on Scottsdale, a team they have beaten twice this season.

Men's Basketball:

MCC came out firing from the jump as they put up 45 points in the first half, the Thunderbirds sharp shooting helped lead the way for their high offensive output. Defensively MCC was solid in the opening 20 minutes, surrendering just 30 points to the Bears.

The second half was much closer than the first, the Bears made a run that cut the lead to as little as five points with just over 2:30 left to play. MCC would answer with a Mason Guiseppi three-pointer and a pair of Jaelon Israel free throws that put the game on ice for the T-Birds, securing the 73-62 victory.

With the win Mesa improves their record to 6-15 (4-11 ACCAC). The Thunderbirds are still in the hunt for the postseason as they currently sit in the 5th seed, just one conference win behind Glendale who holds the fourth and final playoff spot.

MCC will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to take on Scottsdale. The Fighting Artichokes have won both meetings between the two teams this season.
