Mesa Basketball hits the road on Wednesday for their first of three straight away from Theo Heap Gymnasium as they travel to take on Phoenix College.

Women's Basketball:

The No. 5 Lady T-Birds are flying high as they hold a 17-4 record (12-3 ACCAC) and are riding a season-long nine game winning streak. Mesa has been dominating the competition as they've won by a margin of 40 or more points in three of their last five games.

In their last contest against Central Arizona College, MCC used strong second and third quarters to power themselves to a 64-53 victory. MCC has shot the ball well from the floor during their winning streak as they've connected at a 35% rate or higher in seven of their nine games.

The Phoenix College Bears come in with a 4-16 record (3-10 ACCAC) and are riding a three game losing streak. The Bears had caught fire earlier in the year as they won three straight but since their heartbreaking 63-60 loss to Glendale on Jan. 17, they've fallen to Scottsdale, Pima, and Chandler-Gilbert.

This will be the second meeting between the two teams, Mesa took home an 84-36 victory over PC back on Dec. 13. MCC was able to hold the Bears to just 18 points through three quarters, before PC doubled their points with an 18 point final period.

Men's Basketball:

The Thunderbirds come into play on Wednesday with a 5-15 record (3-11 ACCAC) as they've won just one of their last five games. MCC fell to CGCC in their last game, 70-44 as they again struggled to shoot the ball from the field going 16-58 (27.6%).

The Bears enter play on Wednesday with a 2-19 record (2-11 ACCAC) and are 3-2 in their last five games. PC had a big win over Scottsdale 90-64 back on Jan. 20. In their last five games Phoenix College has been connecting from deep at a high rate as they have shot 30% or better from beyond distance in four of their last five, and 42% or better in three of their last five games.

This will be their second meeting between the two teams as MCC cruised to an 83-62 victory back on Dec. 13. Mesa had five players in double figures scoring as Lual Lual and Orlando Gonzales led the charge with 15 points each.
