No. 4 Women's Basketball hits the road for the first time this season

Tuesday December 5, 2023 - 9:55 p.m. | Dylan DeVlieger

The MCC Women's Basketball team hit the road for the first time this season as they travel to take on Glendale CC.

The No. 4 team in the country enters play on Wednesday with a 4-2 overall record (0-1 ACCAC) and is looking to bounce back after they dropped their conference home opener to No. 12 DI opponent Eastern Arizona College last Tuesday.

In the loss MCC's offense looked a bit stagnant at times, working down the shot clock to below five seconds multiple times and not getting a quality shot. The Lady T-Birds scored just 19 points in the first half, a season low.

Glendale comes in with a 4-4 overall mark (0-2 ACCAC), winners of two of their last five games. In their last two games the Lady Gauchos were outscored by Pima CC and Chandler-Gilbert CC by a combined 51 points.

Both MCC and GCC share a common opponent in Utah State Eastern, which earned victories over both the Thunderbirds and Gauchos. MCC lost by 14 points while Glendale lost by 61 points.

Thunderbird Keys to the Game:

  • Score, Score, Score: Glendale gives up the 8th most PPG in the conference (62.5). MCC averages 66.5 points per contest.

  • Start Fast: Glendale allows 32.5 points on average in the first half. If the Lady T-Birds can get off to a good start, look for them to turn it into a track meet.

  • Crash the Glass: Both teams sit towards the back end of the conference in terms of rebounding as MCC ranks 11th (33 RPG) in total rebounds while Glendale sits 8th (35 RPG).
