Mesa, Ariz. - The No. 6 Thunderbirds women's basketball team defeated the No. 10 Pima Aztecs Saturday evening, 73-57.
It was a battle between two top-10 teams in NJCAA Div. II and was a rematch of last year's NJCAA Region I DII Championship game where Mesa prevailed.
Mackenzie Shivers led the way for the lady T-Birds, scoring 22 points. Mykah Anderson had an excellent all-around game, scoring 18 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and having 4 steals and 3 assists. Jasmine Belt came off the bench and earned a double-double (10 points and 13 rebounds).
Up next for Mesa (11-3 overall, 6-1 ACCAC), they will hit the road to go up against Yavapai on Wednesday the 11th and Phoenix College on Saturday the 14th.
