No. 8 women's basketball buries Bella Vista, 85-67on Friday.

The No. 8 women's basketball team improved their season record to 3-0 Friday as they defeated Bella Vista, 85-67. 

The Thunderbirds controlled the game from the jump as they averaged just over 21 points per quarter. Mesa had four different players in double digits scoring led by Mykah Anderson (20), Mackenzie Shivers (17), Kada Taliman (13), AnnMarie Trojanvoich (11). 

The T-Birds shot the ball well as they shot 50% from the field and 42% from three point range. They were aggressive offensively all game and that translated into 20 free throw attempts where they were able to  make 14 of them.

Defensively Mesa locked down during the contest as they allowed just under 17 points a quarter and held the Bears to 37% shooting from the filed, and 10% from behind the three point arc.

The T-Birds will have their hands full tomorrow as they cap off their third straight game in three days against the Morton College Panthers. The Panthers ranked No. 2 in the country come in 2-0 on the season averaging 91 points per game, with their leading scorer Claire Hyde averaging 25.5 points per game. Morton was the NJCAA 2021 National Tournment runner up.

Tip-off for the Thunderbirds vs. Panthers will be 2 pm.
