  ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Mesa had three more athletes score points at the NJCAA Indoor Track and Field national championships on the final day of competition Saturday.

  The men finsished in 12th place with 26 points, while the women took 14th place with 12 points.

  For the men, David Figueroa (So., Mesa, AZ/Nogales H.S.) finished fourth in the 600 meters with a clocking of 1:18.13. D'Angelo Foster (Fr., Gilbert, AZ/Higley H.S.) also finished fourth, in his case in the heptathlon, with 4740 points.

  On the women's side, Beatriz Martinez (So., Chandler, AZ/Chandler H.S.) placed fourth in the 1000 with a time of 3:02.20.

  Three other MCC athletes barely missed scoring points, taking ninth place in their events: Karlie Kjerstad (So., Chandler, AZ/Chandler H.S.) in the mile in 5:28.55, Jayme Giles (So., Portland, Ore/Reynolds H.S.) in the long jump at 5.45 meters and Treston Slater in the pole vault with a jump of 4.50 meters.

  Mesa goes back into action at the Baldy Castillo Meet at Arizona State on March 20-21.
