MCC softball suffers sweep at hands of Phoenix College on Saturday.

The MCC softball team was swept by Phoenix College Saturday afternoon.

With the two losses the Lady T-Birds overall record falls to 12-8 and their conference record to 6-8.

In game one of their doubleheader MCC's offense was able to strike early and often as they scored four runs in the first three innings. However, Phoenix was able to match and one up Mesa as they were able to put seven runs up in the first four frames.

MCC went scoreless until the 6th inning where they were able to tack on three more runs, but PC was able to put up three runs between the 4th and 5th inning.

In the end the Lady T-Birds would fall in their first game 8-10.

In game two Phoenix College fully came alive offensively as they would score 10 runs in the first two innings. The Bears would add five more runs and keep MCC scoreless as they captured the 15-0 victory in 5 innings.

With the two wins the Bears extended their winning streak to 10, and have scored 10 or more runs in their last three games.

Mesa will be back at home as they take on Gateway Community College on Tuesday in a doubleheader. First game will begin at 1:00 p.m. while the second will follow at 3:00 p.m.
