Softball mounts two comebacks against South Mountain in conference opener.

The softball team opened up conference play with a double header against South Mountain yesterday, but were only able to complete one game before sunlight halted their second contest.

In their first game the Lady T-Birds mounted a valiant comeback as they trailed 8-2 at one point and stormed back to tie the ballgame at eight a piece. In the end they were unable to complete the comeback as South Mountain would take the first game 9-8.

In the second game of the double header SMCC mounted five runs through the first two innings. MCC again stormed back, scoring five of their own in the bottom of the 2nd inning to tie things up. 

The Lady T-Birds would pour it on as they would take a 12-7 lead in the fifth inning. Due to the decreasing sunlight the game was stopped and will be resumed at a later date starting at the top of the 6th inning.

The team will be back at it on Saturday as they will host Yavapai.
