Trujillo and Baldwin lead the way for MCC Cross Country at the Highlander Invitational

MCC Cross Country competed in the Highlander Invitational 

Men's Cross Country:

The No. 1 ranked team in the country fared well against the field of 26 teams (composed of NJCAA, NAIA, and NCAA schools) as they finished 13th with 332 points. The Thunderbirds had three runners finish in the top 80 in the field of 297.

Jorge Trujillo led the way for the Thunderbirds as he finished 49th (24:49.9), Javier Garcia finished 57th (24:59.4), while Greyson Akers took 79th (25:20.9).

Samuel Green - 114th (25:46.1)

Joshua Lumpkin - 145th (26:16.5)

Samuel Van Alstine - 160th (26:28.2)

Kai Robinson - 165th (26:30.5)

Gabriel Gonzales - 185th (26:45.1)

Austin Rueff - 200th (26:59.4) 

Women's Cross Country

The No. 4 Lady T-Birds had just two runners compete against a field of 256 in the 6,000m course. The remainder of the athletes for MCC ran a 5k race.

Carmella Baldwin finished 92nd as she clocked a time of 22:21.6 while fellow freshman Regina Raimo finished 127th with a time of 23:12.2.

Both teams will be back in action on Oct. 20 as they compete in the Mesa Rampage which will be hosted by Mesa Community College. The six days will be the quickest turnaround time for Mesa between races all season.
