Mesa Track & Field continues their Indoor season at the Gaucho Indoor Invitational

Mesa Track & Field continued their Indoor regular season on Saturday as they competed in the Gaucho Indoor Invitational.

Women's Track & Field:

The Lady T-Birds added four athletes to their national qualifiers list as Lucy Melzer (1000m), Regina Reimo (1000m), Carmella Baldwin (1000m), & SeiOriana Glass (Weight Throw) all punched their ticket to Lubbock, TX.

Interim head coach Daniel Pescador was especially proud of Glass who had been so close to making the cut all season and finally got over the hump.

"I'm extremely proud of Sei getting her qualifying mark. She's been due for a big throw after missing it the first few meets," said Pescador.

The Lady T-Birds had multiple athletes narrowly miss qualifying for events as Katie Munoz came up just short in the 1000m and Kate Dare just missed making the cut in the 600m.

Men's Track & Field:

Though the men did not add any athletes to the national qualifying list they still had an extremely productive meet. Myles Larsen set three new PRs on the day in the 600m (1:24.37), Shot Put (11.12m), and the High Jump (1.74M).

Corbin Pyle re-broke his own school record in the 1000m event with a time of 2:26.17. Shane Ellard set a new season best in the Pole Vault (4.63m) moving his ranking up to 5th.

Coach Pescador and his staff have been working extremely hard to get the best out of the T-Birds as they continue into the toughest stretch of their Indoor regular season.

"What an amazing day for the students and coaches! This was a very good mid-season meet, as we move into the very competitive part of the season with Don Kirby, the NAU tuneup, and then Nationals. Our coaches have been doing a phenomenal job with the athletes, the trust and buy-in that we all have in each has been tremendous! We're continuing to elevate the program,  and excited to see how the rest of the season goes," said Pescador.
