Hobbs, NM - The Thunderbirds men's track & field team had two athletes earn All-American honors on day one of the 2023 NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Championships on Thursday.

Jeremiah Reed finished in sixth place in the long jump final with a mark of 7.50 meters to earn AA honors for the first time in his career.

Bryant Palmer was eighth in the pole vault and earned his second AA honor at Mesa. The other was at Outdoor Nationals last year.

In the hammer throw, Alex Hernandez narrowly missed advancing to the final by one place after a 10th-place finish in the trial.

Due to weather concerns, the men's running events on Thursday evening were rescheduled.

The 10,000m run and 4x800m relay will be held Friday morning at 7:50 and 8:30 AM MST.

The 4x100m relay, 400m hurdles, and 400m dash will now be timed finals on Saturday.
