Mesa T&F Competes at Region I Multi

Mesa, AZ - The Thunderbirds men's and women's track & field team had four athletes compete at the NJCAA Region I Multi Championships on Monday and Tuesday.

The men competed in the decathlon and the women competed in the heptathlon.

In the decathlon, Louis Ternyik finished second overall with 5,469 points, just 13 points shy of his personal best. Ternyik was the lone T-Bird athlete to earn All-Region honors.

Emitt Post finished in sixth place (4,611 points PB) and Pablo Mejia finished in seventh place (4,491 points).

In the heptathlon, Maliyah Ross finished in fourth place with 4,142 points and beat her PB by 90 points.

The remaining 21 events of the Region I Championships will take place on Tuesday, May 2nd, and Thursday, May 4th, at MCC.

In the men's team standings, Pima leads with 20 points, Mesa is second with 13 points, and CAC is third with six points.

In the women's team standings, CAC leads with 12 points, Pima is second with 10 points, Glendale is third with nine points, Mesa is fourth with five points, and Phoenix College is sixth with three points.
