Men's TF Gets in Solid Marks at NAU Tune Up

Flagstaff, AZ - The Mesa Thunderbirds men's track & field team put in some solid efforts at the NAU Tune-Up meet Friday night.

All times in the running events were adjusted for an altitude conversion as the meet was held at 6,877 ft. elevation.

The T-Birds added one new athlete who hit an indoor national qualifying mark for the first time this season. Another athlete added a second event for which he qualified for. And four athletes improved their marks in events they'd already qualified for.

Mesa also had eight athletes place within the top three of their respective events.

Joshua Boehm won the 400m dash and ran a personal-best time of 48.29. The converted time of 48.50 was just under the qualifying standard of 48.51. Joshua Anderson was third in this event.

Jeremiah Reed won the long jump and had a personal-best mark of 7.42m.

Hayden Gelder was second at 1:56.87 in the 800m and was converted down to 1:55.59 to improve his qualifying time. Nathan Pavelchik was third and ran 1:57.90, which was converted down to a qualifying time of 1:56.60.

Yotuel Garcia improved his qualifying time in the mile as his 4:25.03 effort got converted down to 4:15.41.

In the 60m dash, Ousman Jagne was second with a personal-best time of 6.72 (6.76 converted time) and Tyson Tippett was third.

Yael Caballero Ferro was third in the 3000m with a 9.27.03 performance (9:03.46 converted time).

The T-Birds will close out the indoor season at the 2023 NJCAA Indoor Championships on March third and fourth in Topeka, KS.
