Garcia and Tippett Break School Records at Gaucho Invite

Glendale, AZ -  The Thunderbirds men's track & field team had two indoor school records fall at the Gaucho Indoor Invitational. In fact, the two athletes that broke the records are the current record-holders.

Yotuel Garcia demolished his 5000m school record (14:51.45) that he had clocked in three weeks ago with a 14:37.99 personal-best performance.

Tyson Tippett blew by his one-year-old school record of 6.74 seconds in the 60m dash with a 6.69 PB effort.

The T-Birds added four athletes who hit indoor national qualifying marks for the first time this season. Khamis Hassan in the 60m dash (6.81 PB), Javier Garcia in the 5000m run (15:14.04 PB), Miles Fears in the 60m hurdles (8.10 PB), and Jaylyn Martin in the long jump (7.12m PB).

Two athletes added a second event for which they are now qualified. Hayden Gelder (800m - 1:55.76 PB) and Ousman Jagne (long jump - 7.23m PB).

There were also two athletes who improved their marks in an event they have already qualified for. Samuel Green (800m - 1:54.82) and Jeremiah Reed (long jump - 7.26m PB).

The T-Birds will close out the regular season for indoors at the NAU Tune-Up Meet next Friday in Flagstaff.
