Men's Tennis bounces back to earn first conference win of the season

Monday March 4, 2024 - 11:25 a.m. | Dylan DeVlieger

MCC Men's Tennis got back in the win column on Thursday as they took down Glendale 8-1 in conference action.

The Thunderbirds bounced back from their first conference loss since 2013 as they dominated the Gauchos in singles action earning a clean sweep. Brady Miller stepped up in the No. 1 singles spot as he earned a dominant win, setting the tone for Mesa. Head coach Feroz Rast was extremely pleased with how his freshman performed.

"The highlight of the day was the play of freshman Brady Miller who stepped in at #1 singles and dominated.  He controlled the match from beginning to end," said Rast.

MCC knowing their opponent was shorthanded kept their focus sharp as they would against any other opponent.

"Very impressed with our performance today against GCC. We were going against GCC knowing they have a few guys battling injuries and I thought our guys handled things that we can control," said Rast, "we battled for every point and it was great to get some of our guys match play that have been sitting out."

MCC will be back in action on Thursday as they host Paradise Valley in conference play. Match begins at 1:30 p.m.
