Men's Tennis falls to Pumas in conference action on Tuesday

Wednesday February 28, 2024 - 1:15 p.m. | Dylan DeVlieger

MCC Men's Tennis fell in conference play to Paradise Valley on Tuesday, 6-3.

This is the first conference loss for the T-Birds since 2013 (excluding the shortened 2020 season due to COVID-19).

Mesa battled every step of the way against the Pumas but just were not able to close out the big points needed to capture the win.

Asady Okoye and Carson Abril were in a tight battle in their No. 1 doubles contest but came up just short, falling 9-7. Taylor Miyatani and Nicolas Romero also came up short as they fell in No. 2 doubles 8-3.

In singles play Asad Okoye had a nice showing in No. 1 competition as he took the victory, 6-2, 6-4. John Vigil (7-5, 6-4), and Taylor Miyatani (6-2, 7-5) each fell in two sets.  Carson Abril (7-5, 3-6, 6-0) fell in three sets as did Brady Miller who lost a nail biter in three sets falling 7-6, 7-5, 10-5.

There will be little time for Mesa to dwell on the loss as they are back in action on Thursday as they travel to Glendale for conference action.
