Prado, Mulenga advance at NJCAA men's tennis; MCC seventh
Plano, Texas – Mesa's Leandro Prado and Duncan Mulenga both reached the singles quarter-final round of the NJCAA Division I Men's Tennis Championship with easy wins Tuesday. AS a team, MCC is in seventh place.
In addition, Mulenga and partner Tate Porter are still alive at No. 3 doubles. No doubles play took place Tuesday.
Prado blanked Daniel Ferguson, of Sauk Valley, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles. Wednesday he will face top-seeded Dario Kmet, of Eastern Florida State, at 6 a.m. Arizona time.
Mulenga stopped Emmanuel Warner, of Marion Military, 6-0, 6-0, to reach the quarters of the No. 5 flight. He will also take on the No. 1 seed at his flight, Sergio Gomez Bolz, also of Eastern Florida State, at about 7:30 a.m., Arizona time.
Mulenga and Porter will meet fourth-seeded Charles Heffernan and Edward Shteyn, of host Collin, at about 11:15 p.m., AZ time.
