Men's tennis completes California trip with 9-0 win over College of the Desert
Palm Desert, Calif. – "We gradually got better on our trip." That was the sentiment of Mesa head men's tennis coach Adam Cohen after his team completed a three-day venture to California with a 9-0 win over College of the Desert Saturday.
"Considering we are still playing without Matt Fisher due to a hand injury, I thought we competed very well on this trip," noted Cohen. "Cerritos and Cypress both have great teams and our players that stepped in for Matt did a great job. With the exception of a couple of matches, every match we played was competitive. On any given day, either player could have won."
Saturday the T-Birds breezed through all nine matches, losing a total of only five games.
Winning 6-0, 6-0 matches were Kim Donghyun at No. 3, and George Rendek at No. 4.
In doubles, Noel Maurin and Linus Holthey took an 8-0 win at No. 1 and David Felix and Rendek won by the same score at No. 2.
MCC, which improved to 10-5 on the season, now returns to conference action, visiting Glendale for an ACCAC match Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
