Mesa Men's Golf finished in third place at the Region I DII Championship this week.

The Thunderbirds shot +68 (300-298-303-303 - 1204) in the event finishing behind second place Chandler-Gilbert +47 (287-296-298-302), and event winner South Mountain +29 (285-290-300-290).

Mesa was led in the event by freshman Ross Kocsis who finished 7th and bounced back from shooting +12 in the first three days to going just one over on the final day to finish +13 (297).

Kocsis nearly booked himself a trip to nationals but came up just short as he finished behind the top individual (not on the top two teams) by just one stroke.

Stratton Deneke finished 9th after a strong start on day one (+2 - 73) and day two (+1 -72) but stumbled in the final days of competition shooting +5 (76) on day three and +13 (84) on the final day to finish the event +21 (305). Ethan Burbidge finished in 14th shooting +28 (312).
