Men's golf remains second at Region I championship

  Gold Canyon, AZ – The Mesa men's golf team remained in second place at the Region I, Division II championship after round two at the Gold Canyon G.C. Sidewinder Course Friday.

  Both MCC and leader South Mountain recorded higher scores on the second day of play, but the Cougars extended their lead to 19 shots at 279-285—564 to the T-Birds' 289-294—583.

  Logan Eatherton moved into a tie for third place with a second consecutive 71 for a 142 total. He is tied with Bosse Lennsen who has posted a 70-72—142.

  Drew Middlemiss, who carded a 69 Thursday slipped to 74 but still sat in sixth place with a 143 total.

  Play continues Saturday and concludes Sunday.
