Update From Day 2 of Men's Golf Regionals

GOLD CANYON, AZ – A poor second round has left the Mesa men's golf team 34 shots off the lead at the Region I Championship played Friday over the Sidewinder course at the Gold Canyon G.C.  

The T-Birds shot a 315, their second-highest score of the year, to post a 36-hole total 292-315—607.  

South Mountain leads at 282-291—573 while Chandler-Gilbert is three shots behind MCC at 306-304—610.  

For the T-Birds, T.J. Katherineberg (So., Mesa, AZ/Desert Ridge H.S.) is tied for fifth at 70-77—147.  

Jeff Kelley (Fr., Payson, AZ/Payson H.S.) is tied for eighth 73-78—151 and Alex Trevino (So., Gilbert, AZ/Mesquite H.S.) is tied for tenth with a 72-81—153.  

The tournament continues Saturday and concludes Sunday.
