The men's basketball team season came to an end Saturday night in a double overtime thriller against top seeded Cochise College, 80-73.

Much like in the first two matchups between these teams this season, the Thunderbirds were able to keep up with the Apaches in the first half and even took a 31-29 lead into the locker room.

The second half saw MCC slowly build up a lead of as much as 12 points which they held with as little as four minutes left in the game. However, in the last four minutes Cochise went on a 14-2 run to tie the game in the final minute and send it to the first overtime.

In the first overtime period both teams traded blows back and forth but neither was able to get the upper hand on the other in the additional five minutes as the second overtime loomed.

In the second overtime period MCC's shots were not  falling as they were the first 45 minutes of action. Cochise outscored them 9-2 in the final overtime period sealing their win and ending the Thunderbirds season.

Coach Lester Neal and his team ended their season with a 10-20 record and went 6-16 in conference play. They went into the playoffs as the four seed and gave the one seeded (No. 11 team in country)  Apaches all they could handle and then some.
